Ironman Magazine did a nice pictorial of female weightlifters in their April 2006 issue. I have added a link to my picture:
You can also see it under media exposure. As weightlifting is not a mainstream sport, it is always great to get good coverage by a magazine!
After a long hiatus from lifting competition to prepare for bobsledding, I have happily returned. After taking 2 months off to recover from the bobsled season, I started slowly working my way back about 10 weeks ago. I recently competed in my first meet in over a year, going 6 for 6 and tying my snatch PR. I snatched 80, 85 and 90 kilos and clean & jerked 95, 100 and 105. I'm looking forward to more meets in the future, including nationals in August. I will post updates and pictures as I have them.
I have just added links to movies of the first 90 kilo (198 lb) snatch I made and a 100 kilo (220 lb) clean and jerk from the same day. The movies were taken by my friend Tom (tomnine) in the spring of 2002 at the Virginia State Games. I lifted a total 190 kilos which was a PR for me that day.
#1: This photo was taken at William and Mary in the summer of 2000. I was working as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at the college under John Sauer, who also became my first weightlifting coach.
#2: This is a picture of the 90 kilo snatch I made to become the 2003 National Snatch Champion in Chattanooga, TN lifting in the 69 kilo (152 pound) class.
Hi! Welcome to my weightlifting blog. Although I am training primarily for bobsledding right now, weightlifting is still a big part of my life. I have been competing for 5 years and will compete again after this bobsled season is over. I will be posting pictures from different competitions as well as results. Enjoy!
